playoffs in fantasy football for the 2016 NFL season

Playoff Ballin' - Strategy for your #FF Playoffs

-Now is the time to shed players you have no interest in starting in playoffs. Do you need 2 kickers? Is an extra defense overkill? Could your roster use an evening out, and need another RB instead of 6 WRs - two of which you will never play. Be smart, you never want to drop a guy that can haunt you - the ole’ one man’s trash is another man’s treasure syndrome has happened to me in the name of Delanie Walker last season. Regardless, do a review of your team and see if there is any last minute tweaking that could help your roster for these last few weeks. -d-Rx®

-If the Vikings are in the hunt, Adrian Peterson may be playing in the Championship week. Risky, but for those of you that drafted him in the 1st round and have since dropped the guy, maybe he can pay off for you when it matters most. In 1997 I drafted Jerry Rice first overall only for him to go down for the season on a reverse where Warren Sapp fucked up his knee in the first week. Rice worked his ass off Rice-style and played Monday Night in Week 16 and caught a touchdown (shattering his kneecap in the process), I played him and that TD won the championship for me. Adrian Peterson is that similar other-world type of player like Rice, makes for a great story if… only if, you have him on your team. He's running on the sidelines at practice already. Pick him up if you have the bench space to do so. -d-Rx®

-Justin Forsett rejoins forces with Kubiak again, this time on a powerhouse team in desperate need of his talents in the Denver Broncos. He knows the system obviously, he’s been with Gary in Texas where he had his breakout season, then in Baltimore… now these two love birds are together again at Mile High. Hmmm. Could be this year's Tim Hightower if you ask me. I’ve grabbed him in every league I’m in. -d-Rx®

-Get your Clint Eastwood on - every which way but loose. When scouring the waiver-wire, change  your view to every setting you can, view available players every way you can: FF Points year to date, weekly FF Points, Average Draft Position, etc. You might be surprised at what waiver wire gold has slipped through the cracks. As always in life, it is all about perspective. -PyromaniacMo

-Prepare for success by examining your opponent's line-up. Is there a weak spot anywhere? If so, might they be looking to add someone off waivers. If indeed you can trim the fat, do so, and cop-block that bastard by grabbing that likely waiver wire snag. Better that NFL player score points on your bench as opposed to your opponent's starting line-up. -PyromaniacMo

-Handcuff your studs that have backups that could see some PRODUCTIVE action if something bad were to happen. Le’Veon Bell is a great example, if you have him - DeAngelo Williams is available in most leagues because he’s banged up, and coming off surgery - but he just returned to practice. Never want any player to get hurt, but Bell always does and what if he were to get injured in the next week, it could be a guy like DeAngelo that takes those points like he did last year and earlier this season. This is just one scenario, review your squad and see if there are others that can benefit you for a playoff run in 2016 if something bad happens to one of your horses. -d-Rx®

-Look at the NFL standings and team records. There might be a team out there (Patriots, Dallas) that take their foot off the gas in Week 16. This is precisely the reason you should not play Week 17. But the two teams mentioned both have a 2 game divisional lead going into Week 13. On the flip side, the Browns and the 49'ers both could be looking for that top draft pick and tank on purpose. Just be aware of the standings and how they can effect your lineups. -PyromaniacMo

-The sabotage drop. A risky maneuver to be sure. But if there is a player that has been on the skids, or perhaps that has an abysmal SoS, you could drop that player as bait for you opponent to pick up and start, thus sabotaging their line-up. This move is not for the faint of heart and should only be employed with careful precision and planning... That, or the prerequisite gigantic freaking balls! Those of you that have to shop at www.BigCahoniesBoxers.com know what I am talking about! -PyromaniacMo

-Do you have an injury prone QB running the show for your team? If so, check the matchups in Week 14-16 (and even week 17 if your commissioner is torturing you and your league mates and hasn’t read the "memo"). QBs that have great matchups in the playoffs that could be available. -d-Rx®

-Are there any stout defenses and kickers out there that are better than what you are currently starting week in and week out? It happens all the time, these 2 spots get dropped late in the season. Check to see if a top defense has been dropped, or a less well known kicker has been shed. -d-Rx®

-Here is our Playoff Strength of Schedule chart that can help you see what types of matchups your players and guys available on the waiver wire have:

Strength of Schedule Rest of Season Week 14 2016 Playoffs All Positions
