Eric Ebron

Detroit Lions

Ebron Could Use Some Luck

Colts signed TE Eric Ebron, formerly of the Lions, to a two-year contract. Coach Frank Reich called Ebron an "elite tight end."

The last time we saw Andrew Luck healthy (2016), the Colts used 2+ TE sets at the 3rd-highest rate in the NFL and had the 6th-highest target share to TEs.

Carlos Hyde

San Francisco 49ers

Hyde and Seek

Browns agreed to terms with RB Carlos Hyde, formerly of the 49ers, on a three-year, $15 million contract.

Obtaining Hyde has several trickle-down effects; first it replaces Crowell who signed with the Jets, it probably diminishes Duke Johnson’s value a bit. Hyde is a better all-around back than Crowell was and will certainly take over the goal-line work seeing that he’s got 20+ pounds on Duke. It also reduces the likelihood that Cleveland takes Saquon Barkley with the 4th pick in the draft. They will most likely look to draft a defensive player (Chubb) or trade down again.

Jerick McKinnon

Minnesota Vikings

McKinnon Goes West For Gold-Rush

49ers agreed to terms with RB Jerick McKinnon, formerly of the Vikings, on a four-year, $30 million contract.

McKinnon averaged a ho-hum 3.8 yards a carry for the Vikings and scored three rushing touchdowns. By contrast, San Francisco's former lead runner, Carlos Hyde, averaged 3.9 yards an attempt in 2017 and had eight rushing touchdowns.

It appears as though Shanahan is enamored with McKinnon's athletic metrics, but I'm not so sure he was "pounding the table" to get him. This move could push the Niner's to cut Joe Williams.

Mike Wallace

Baltimore Ravens

Eagles Keep Improving

Eagles signed WR Mike Wallace to a one-year contract.
Mike Wallace can still move posting a top five max speed among wide receivers last season. He will fill the void left by Torrey Smith as a speed vertical threat.

Terrelle Pryor

Washington Redskins

Jets Searching For Weapons

Jets agreed to terms with WR Terrelle Pryor, formerly of Washington and Cleveland.

Second year in a row on a new team doesn’t really help Pryor's cause, but I like the idea of him on the field with Teddy Bridgewater at some point. I would imagine, with some creativity, the Jets could really design some innovative gadget plays.
The Jets receiving corps really looks like a bunch of question marks at this point though, no telling what the week-to-week outcome will be with these guys.
Jermaine Kearse: 65 catches, 810 yards, 5 touchdowns (2017)
Robby Anderson: 63 catches, 941 yards, 7 touchdowns (2017)
Quincy Enunwa: 58 catches, 857 yards, 4 touchdowns (2016)
Terrelle Pryor: 77 catches, 1007 yards, 4 touchdowns (2016)

Carlos Henderson

Denver Broncos

Sleeper Watch

Broncos coach Vance Joseph said the team is "counting on" Carlos Henderson making an impact in 2018.

If you are paying attention to Staggs projections there is plenty of opportunity for Henderson to step into a solid number of targets in the slot. Henderson was hindered by injury and awful QB play last year. Being drafted in the 18th round or later in best-ball leagues, Henderson is the late round flyer that should be on your radar.

Ben Watson

Baltimore Ravens

Watson Returns To Big Easy

Saints signed TE Ben Watson, formerly of the Ravens, to a one-year contract.

Watson had 74 catches on 110 targets for 825 yards and 6 TD’s when he was with the Saints in 2015. After missing 2016 he had a pretty good year with Baltimore last year despite an anemic offense, with 61 catches on 79 targets for 522 yards and 4 TD’s. He’s not a bad late round flyer TE. He’s basically free right now, but I expect by the time the season starts he’ll be being drafted within the top 20 at the position.

Jeff Janis

Green Bay Packers

Janis Truthers Challenged

Browns officially signed former Packers’ WR Jeff Janis.
The combine superstar never amounted to anything in Green Bay, I highly doubt Cleveland is the place for him to finally break-out.

Thomas Rawls

Seattle Seahawks

Jets Sign Rawls

Rawls had five RB1 games in 2015, one in 2016, and has been a disappointment since. He’s not worth your time in fantasy, but he could cause enough disruption in the Jets backfield to cut any upside we might have hoped for from Isaiah Crowell.

Allen Robinson

Jacksonville Jaguars

Coo coo ca choo Mr. Robinson

Bears signed WR Allen Robinson, formerly of the Jaguars, to a three-year, $42 million contract.

This is a great move for Robinson and Chicago. Nagy’s offense and the young QB, Trubiski, should benefit Robinson at least as much as Bortles did, and Chicago gets the top WR in free agency.
Everyone on the team will be in a new scheme so there will be an adjustment, but as they start to gel we should see a big second half. Robinson’s recovery from a torn ACL doesn’t scare me away from drafting him in the late third/early fourth, his current MFL10 ADP is 43 overall while his Draft app ADP is 59.9. I expect Robinson to be somewhere in the range of 75 receptions, for 1100 yards and 8 TD’s.

Sammy Watkins

Los Angeles Rams

KC Building Strong Air Attack

Chiefs signed Sammy Watkins, formerly of the Rams, to a three-year, $48 million contract.

I’m a big Sammy truther so getting him in the 5th or 6th round is a pure power move. His current Draft app ADP of 87.1 is an absolute steal, his MFL10 ADP of 69.5 is still a great value in my opinion. There are quite a few options for high targets in KC so I don’t expect him to see the 128 targets he saw his rookie year, but he should definitely see more than the 70 he saw last year. He’ll have an entire offseason to work with the near-rookie QB, and at age 25 he should have enough burst left to have a 70 catch, 1050 yd, 8TD line. For his career he has 16 receptions on 30 targets for 12 TD’s in the Red Zone, and 9 receptions on 13 targets, for 8 TD’s inside the opponents 10. He should be the exact WR the Chiefs need to get over the hump. As a team the Chiefs were 34/75 for 13 TD’s in the Red-Zone last year and 12/24 for 10 TD inside the 10.

Kirk Cousins

Washington Redskins

Vikings Like That

Kirk Cousins plans to sign a three-year, fully-guaranteed contract from the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday. The deal is believed to be for around $86 million, and reports are it will be fully-guaranteed, a landmark for an NFL free agent.

Should be a lateral move for Kirk as far as fantasy, better WR’s, but fewer passes thrown in this offense. A healthy Dalvin Cook should be able to run out the clock if they are up in the second half of games and take the ball out of Cousins hands near the end zone. It should also help the overall efficiency of the offense so all in all it increases his floor, but cuts any garbage-time production we’ve seen with Washington. Kyle Rudolph becomes a big benefactor here, Cousins loves his TE, especially near the end-zone.

Case Keenum

Minnesota Vikings

Denver Makes Case

Broncos signed QB Case Keenum, formerly of the Vikings, to a two-year, $36 million contract.

Well, I was hoping for more than a bridge QB for my favorite WR (D. Thomas), but this is a definite upgrade from the three stooges Denver put behind center last year.

LeGarrette Blount

Philadelphia Eagles

Detroit Sparks Up Blount

The Lions signed free agent RB LeGarrette Blount to a 1-year deal worth $4.5M. He’s back with Matt Patricia, as the New England ties are strong.

The Lions have needed a true goal-line/power-back for years. I expect Blount to get between 150-200 touches and all the short-yardage carries. Detroit’s offense doesn’t really fit what Blount brings to the table, but I expect Patricia will have some influence over how the offense will operate from here-on-out.

Cleveland Browns

Money Ball: The Sequel

Hate to start out the offseason with the Cleveland Browns, but they are makin’ moves!
Browns acquired: Tyrod Taylor, Jarvis Landry, Damarious Randall
Browns gave up: 2018 3rd-round pick (No. 65), 2018 4th-round pick, 2019 7th-round pick, DeShone Kizer

Building with experienced quality performers that have something to prove, by selling inconsequential draft picks is exactly what Sashi Brown was building up for. It’s a shame he won’t be around to reap the rewards, but these are quality moves for a win-now mentality.

Tyrod Taylor

Buffalo Bills

Hue Looks To TyGoat

Browns left tackle Joe Thomas, who's pondering his future, is a fan of Tyrod Taylor and has said so on the ThomaHawk Show podcast.

Tyrod is just one season removed (2016) from being the QB11 in average fantasy ppg, including seven 20+ point weeks and six 15+ point weeks. Given the current talent on the O-line and skill position weapons he could improve on those numbers. He has the potential to be this year’s Alex Smith, definitely heading my late-round (12+) QB picks now.

Deshone Kizer

Cleveland Browns

Packers Get In On The Fun

The Packers have traded for QB DeShone Kizer from the Browns to Green Bay.

This is the best possible scenario for Kizer, who was thrown into the fire last season. Getting the chance to develop and learn behind the best in the business is the best chance he has for longevity.

Torrey Smith

Philadelphia Eagles

On The Move Again

The Eagles trade WR Torrey Smith to the Panthers for CB Daryl Worley. Torrey Smith could fill the old Ted Ginn role which makes this fairly interesting. Stagg Party says it’s more of a boost for Cam than Torrey himself.

This is an absolute perfect fit, someone who isn’t going to demand the ball, but can take the top off a defense while McCaffrey, Olsen, and Cam work underneath. Torrey is looking like a great late-round flyer.

DeMarco Murray

Tennessee Titans

Henry Hype Train Has Clear Track

DeMarco Murray was released by the Titans.
No surprise here, expect Derick Henry to be a lead back with 250+ touches, but they will bring in someone that will play the third-down, pass-catching role out of the backfield. I wouldn’t be surprised if they sign someone like Jerick McKinnon or Rex Burkhead, or even Darren Sproles or Charles Sims. There are also plenty of options in the NFL draft, Henry won’t be a true “Bell Cow.”

Marquise Goodwin

San Francisco 49ers

The Name Says It All

Marquise Goodwin and the 49ers have agreed to a 3yr extension worth $20.3M & 10M guaranteed.

Shanahan has found his big-play threat at a reasonable price. Goodwin caught 56 balls for 962 yards last season, but only had two TD’s. None of his six longest plays (33+ yards) were from Garoppollo so it leads me to believe they will still be looking for a top of the line WR, even with Garcon coming back from injury.

All players listed are available in at least 30% of CBS Leagues

LATAVIUS MURRAY – RB – VIKINGS – AVAILABLE IN 78% OF CBS LEAGUES

Dalvin Cook has been lost for the season with an ACL injury, which means that Latavius Murray will once again be the starter for the Vikings. He was not very impressive this week with 21 yards on seven carries, and two catches for eight yards, but he is now the starter going forward.

WILL FULLER – WR – TEXANS – AVAILABLE IN 79% OF CBS LEAGUES

Fuller saw his first action of the year this week and he caught four passes for 35 yards with two touchdowns. Fuller was targeted downfield by Watson, and while they did not connect, those will come. Fuller is a nice add in long touchdown leagues, and it looks like he will see the second most amount targets after Hopkins.

WENDALL SMALLWOOD – RB – EAGLES – AVAILABLE IN 30% OF CBS LEAGUES

Smallwood did see the increase in workload and he had a nice fantasy week. He rushed 10 times for 34 yards with a touchdown, and caught four passes for 45 yards. With Sproles out his role has increased, and he is getting ample carries which is a good sign.

AARON JONES – RB – PACKERS – AVAILABLE IN 98% OF CBS LEAGUES

The Packers lost both Ty Montgomery and Jamaal Williams to injury and Jones stepped in and looked good, carrying the ball 13 times for 49 yards with a touchdown. If they both miss time Jones will be the lead back, and regardless he may have leapfrogged Williams with this performance.

ALFRED MORRIS – RB – COWBOYS – AVAILABLE IN 87% OF CBS LEAGUES

Morris had two carries for 76 yards, but that is not why he is on this list. We will find out the fate of Ezekiel Elliott on Monday, and if suspended Morris becomes the lead back.

ALVIN KAMARA – RB – SAINTS – AVAILABLE IN 38% OF CBS LEAGUES

Kamara has become the second back in the Saints backfield, and you might even consider him the #1 with the way he is used in the passing game. He carried the ball five times for 25 yards and added 71 yards with a score on 10 catches. Sean Peyton is going to look for more ways to get this kid the ball. Grab him now if available.

DEVIN FUNCHESS – WR – PANTHERS – AVAILABLE IN 44% OF CBS LEAGUES

Funchess showed up big time this week in New England, catching seven passes for 70 yards with two touchdowns. Drops have always been a problem, but he is getting the targets now. This may be his best fantasy game of the year, but he is definitely going to be a bigger part of the passing offense going forward.

COOPER KUPP – WR – RAMS – AVAILABLE IN 42% OF CBS LEAGUES

The rookie has been up and down this season, but this was another up week with five catches for 60 yards and a score. Sammy Watkins is helping to open things up for Kupp, and he is developing a nice rapport with Goff.

GERONIMO ALLISON – WR – PACKERS – AVAILABLE IN 83% OF CBS LEAGUES

Allison did not record a stat last week, but he will see a lot more action this week while Davante Adams recovers, which could be a long time. Allison will step in as the third receiver, and will have lots of chances with Aaron Rodgers throwing the pill.

JARON BROWN – WR – CARDINALS – AVAILABLE IN 92% OF CBS LEAGUES

Jaron Brown was able to be effective with John Brown also on the field this week. He caught eight passes for 122 yards, so he is showing nice upside. The only problem is all the other receivers he is competing with, but I think it is bad news for them. If he improves his consistency he could be a major boom to fantasy lineups.

WAYNE GALLMAN – RB – GIANTS – AVAILABLE IN 97% OF CBS LEAGUES

Paul Perkins and Shane Vereen have been horrible this season, so the Giants finally let the rookie hit the field to see what he could do. He finished with 11 carries for 42 yards and caught two passes for eight yards and a touchdown. He is likely to see a larger workload going forward, as Perkins was terrible again with 13 yards on nine carries.

ANDY DALTON – QB – BENGALS – AVAILABLE IN 32% OF CBS LEAGUES

Dalton is starting to get it together, and this week he completed 25 of 30 passes for 286 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. This offense has a lot more potential and they are starting to show it.

JARED GOFF – QB – RAMS – AVAILABLE IN 66% OF CBS LEAGUES

Goff had a gutsy performance in a road in victory Dallas this week and completed 21 of 36 passes for 255 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He is available in a lot of leagues, and this offense is really coming together.

AUSTIN HOOPER – TE – FALCONS – AVAILABLE IN 45% OF CBS LEAGUES

Hooper has been seeing his role in the passing game increase this season, and it could be in for an even bigger boost. He caught five passes for 50 yards this week, but the big news was the injuries to Julio Jones (hip) and Mohamed Sanu (hamstring). If they miss an extended period of time Hooper will be needed to pick up the slack in the passing game.

DANNY AMENDOLA – WR – PATRIOTS – AVAILABLE IN 48% OF CBS LEAGUES

When Amendola is healthy he makes plays, and that was the case this week. He caught six passes for 42 yards with a score. Brady has faith in Amendola, and he is only receiver that is running the underneath routes in the offense.

DESHAUN WATSON – QB – TEXANS – AVAILABLE IN 50% OF CBS LEAGUES

Watson was great this week, throwing for 283 yards with four touchdowns, one interception, and ran for 24 yards with another score. Will Fuller added another dimension to the passing attack, and Watson is a playmaker.

D’ONTA FOREMAN – RB – TEXANS – AVAILABLE IN 41% OF CBS LEAGUES

The rookie continues to be second back behind Lamar Miller, and while Miller went off this week Foreman had a ho-hum day with 13 carries for 45 yards. He is still a big part of what the Texans are doing, and if Miller goes down he takes over as the starter.

ALEX COLLINS – RB – RAVENS – AVAILABLE IN 87% OF CBS LEAGUES

Collins was the most dynamic runner for the Ravens this week, gaining 82 yards on nine carries, although he did have a fumble. It looks like the rookie is going to get more carries going forward, and that is bad news for Terrance West. Collins is worth adding in deeper leagues.

ANDRE ELLINGTON – RB – CARDINALS – AVAILABLE IN 52% OF CBS LEAGUES

The DUKE is making an impact in fantasy once again. He is finally in his correct spot as the change of pace back to Chris Johnson, and he is doing major damage as a receiver. He caught eight passes for 78 yards and carried the ball five times for 18 yards.

CHRIS JOHNSON – RB – CARDINALS – AVAILABLE IN % OF CBS LEAGUES

Chris Johnson had 13 carries this week, which was the most on the team, but he only gained 32 yards. He also caught three passes for 31 yards, but failed to find the endzone. Johnson is not going to give you a good game when they go to the passing attack, as they did this week.

CAMERON BRATE – TE – BUCCANEERS – AVAILABLE IN 48% OF CBS LEAGUES

O.J. Howard had the long touchdown catch, but it was Brate down the stretch that got it done for Winston and the Bucs. He finished with four catches for 80 yards and a touchdown. Howard has more flash, but Brate is the safety blanket for Winston and out there on more snaps.

KENDALL WRIGHT – WR – BEARS – AVAILABLE IN 62% OF CBS LEAGUES

It has not been good to be a Bears receiver this year, but Wright is the best of what is left and last week he caught four passes for 51 yards. The best news for Wright is that Mike Glennon is sure to lose the starting job in the coming weeks, if not this week. His stock goes up with Trubisky under center.

ADAM HUMPHRIES – WR – BUCCANEERS – AVAILABLE IN 99% OF CBS LEAGUES

Humphries was a nice target for Jameis Winston this week, catching six passes for 70 yards. Humphries is doing a good job working underneath of DJax and Evans.

ROBBY ANDERSON – WR – JETS – AVAILABLE IN 80% OF CBS LEAGUES

Anderson only caught three passes this week, but he gained 59 yards. He is a deep threat receiver, but does not get enough looks on a consistent basis to truly be trusted in fantasy.

ELIJAH MCGUIRE – RB – JETS – AVAILABLE IN 90% OF CBS LEAGUES

The rookie is getting his looks while Matt Forte is out, and this week he made good use of his touches. McGuire had 10 carries for 93 yards, including a 69-yard run for a score. He also added 38 yards on two catches. This type of performance is going to have the Jets wanting to get him the ball more, which makes this backfield a nasty proposition when Forte returns.

JUJU SCHUSTER-SMITH – WR – STEELERS – AVAILABLE IN 96% OF CBS LEAGUES

The rookie caught three passes for 47 yards with a score this week. He has become the third receiving option behind Brown and Bryant, and while he is not going to have monster games his workload should provide a better floor going forward. He is still only worth adding in deeper leagues.

TAYLOR GABRIEL – WR – FALCONS – AVAILABLE IN 63% OF CBS LEAGUES

Gabriel did not record a catch this week, but he could be in for more work if Julio Jones (hip) and Mohamed Sanu (hamstring) both miss time with injuries.

JALEN RICHARD – RB – RAIDERS – AVAILABLE IN 63% OF CBS LEAGUES

It was a nothing-special day for Richard, with two carries for seven yards and one catch for 20 yards. The Raiders may have lost Derek Carr for some time due to a back injury, and that is not good news for Richard.

BEN WATSON – TE – RAVENS – AVAILABLE IN 65% OF CBS LEAGUES

Watson had a decent week, catching five passes for 43 yards. The Ravens had a hard time generating offense this week, and Watson continues to be a safety blanket for Joe Flacco.

ED DICKSON – TE – PANTHERS – AVAILABLE IN 89% OF CBS LEAGUES

Dickson had three receptions for 62 yards this week as the starting tight end. He is not going to dazzle you, but he is getting chances while Olsen recovers.

MITCH TRUBISKY – QB – BEARS – AVAILABLE IN 91% OF CBS LEAGUES

Mike Glennon has been horrible and it is only a matter of time before Mitch gets the call, and it could be as soon as this week.

TYLER KROFT – TE – BENGALS – AVAILABLE IN 100% OF CBS LEAGUES

Kroft is making his presence know while Tyler Eifert remains out. This week he was a big part of the offense, catching six passes for 68 yards with two scores. When Eifert returns his value goes away.

JERMAINE KEARSE – WR – JETS – AVAILABLE IN % OF CBS LEAGUES

Kearse did not do much this week with four catches for 17 yards. There is going to be a lot of inconsistent play from Kearse the rest of the way.

KENNY STILLS – WR – DOLPHINS – AVAILABLE IN 58% OF CBS LEAGUES

Stills was quiet this week with only three catches for 13 yards. They did try to utilizing him on screens, so maybe he is going to see more looks in the coming weeks.
