Jordan Reed

Washington Redskins

Reed Starts Season on PUP

The Redskins have not released a specific injury, so we must assume that its connected to the shoulder or recurring concussions.

Fantasy Goo: I would hold off drafting any shares of Reed until the injury is confirmed. The Redskins opened training camp today, although unlikely it could be a new concussion or concussion-like symptoms, any new concussion issues will likely land Reed out of football.

Trevor Siemian

Denver Broncos

Siemian To Open Camp As Starter

Trevor Siemian will start training camp with first team. He and Paxton Lynch will rotate daily.

Fantasy Goo: While both have similar season total values, Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders both clearly benefit from opposite receivers. Lynch adds value to Sanders gets a boost due to the deep ball and Siemian boosts Demaryius due to short ball accuracy.

Cody Kessler

Cleveland Browns

Kessler Opens Camp as QB1

Mary Cay Cabot has reported that Cody Kessler will get the first crack as starting QB in Brown's camp per Hugh Jackson.

Fantasy Goo: Kessler has the highest upside of of the Brown's current QB's in 2017. DeShone Kizer may be the long term plan, but I like Kessler for fantasy production in 2017.

Le'Veon Bell

Pittsburgh Steelers

Bell To Holdout

Le'Veon Bell reportedly turned down a 5 year extension averaging $12 million per year, and still hasn't signed his tender. Now star WR, Antonio Brown is calling out for the RB to show up and play via Instagram.

Fantasy Goo: The $12 million would make Le'Veon the highest paid RB in the and 50% higher than the current bread winner, LeSean McCoy. To me this says that Lev is going to hold out and is willing to miss regular season games (and paychecks) to receive a massive deal.

Jordan Matthews

Philadelphia Eagles

Matthews Knee Tendinitis Could Be Serious

Jordan Matthews has had a knee issue for the past month, so there is a chance it is more serious than tendinitis. This is a big story to keep track of through the Eagles training camp which kicks off today.

Fantasy Goo: Matthews is in elite company as one of only 5 WRs to open their career with 3 consecutive season with 65+ catches and 800+ yards. Joining Randy Moss, Odell Beckham Jr., A.J. Green and Mike Evans. If this issue persists or worsens, that success probably wont be sustained through a fourth season.

Ty Montgomery

Green Bay Packers

Ty Works With The Footwork King

Ty has reportedly been working out with Rischad Whitfield out of Houston to improve his footwork. Whitfield has been credited for working with both Melvin Gordon and Le'Veon Bell prior to their respective breakout sophomore seasons.

Fantasy Goo: This is not a guaranteed success as he also has worked with the likes of Jaelen Strong and Josh Huff so take this news with a grain of salt. However, Ty could see a vast improvement with improved footwork he could hit more holes, and have the confidence to be patient and let blocking develop.

Theo Riddick

Detroit Lions

Riddick Reportedly In Line for RZ Work

Tim Twentyman of the Detroit Lions homepage expects Cooter to utilize Riddick in the Red Zone more in 2017.

Fantasy Goo: Riddick converted all 3 of his RZ targets into scores. But this report contradict's Warren Sharps analysis that shows rushing in the RZ has a 58% success rate vs 43% for passing. I'm calling this news fluff and still expect big things from Abdullah.

Jay Ajayi

Miami Dolphins

Throw More Coal Into The Jay-Train

Mike Pouncey, the Dolphins All-Pro caliber center, should be back and healthy for camp.

Fantasy Goo: Ajayi averaged 18.8 fantasy points with Pouncey on the field compared to 9.0 without his star center. Expect Ajayi to have a sharp increase in price due to this news.

Kenneth Dixon

Baltimore Ravens

UPDATE: Dixon Out For Season

Dixon's surgery today was a repair of the meniscus rather than a trimming. This is the better surgery for long term use, but Dixon will not play in 2017.

Fantasy Goo: Terrance West steps in line for a large workload, but the 2016 number one pass offense in terms of volume will see a high dosage of Woodhead and potentiall Buck Allen out of the backfield.

Vance McDonald

San Francisco 49ers

Niners Cutting McDonald?

“One of the final moves of the previous regime was to sign off on a contract extension for McDonald, who was guaranteed $9.1 million with his new deal in December. Now, McDonald is not assured a roster spot as he and the other holdovers face stiff competition from the newcomers who were hand-picked for the scheme.”
If SF cut’s McDonald they still have to pay him his 9 million guaranteed money and take a 3.5mil cap hit this year.

Fantasy Goo: McDonald was one of my early season deep sleepers, but rumors of SF wanting him out have caused me to back off. His draft price has dropped like a rock and now I’m thinking that these beat reporters are out of their mind. I’m going back to targeting McDonald in the 18th round or later. He could have a huge year in the Shanahan offense.

Kenneth Dixon

Baltimore Ravens

Dixon Under the Knife

“The Ravens' need for another back intensified this week when the team learned that Dixon tweaked his knee while working out before training camp. Dixon, a second-year back, is believed to have a torn meniscus in his knee, according to sources. He'll have surgery today and the team will know more about the severity of the injury. This is Dixon's third knee injury since the Ravens took him in the fourth round of last year's draft.”

Fantasy Goo: This could set-up very well for Terrance West, but as someone who watched him in college, he’s not going to earn much more than what is blocked for him. If Woodhead is able to get back to full capacity we could also see a big year from him, especially in PPR. Either way this backfield is still looking like a committee that shouldn’t be considered until after the sixth/seventh round of your draft.

Marshawn Lynch

Seattle Seahawks

Lynch Not a Bell-Cow

“The depth at running back means he won’t have to shoulder a huge load. Something in the range of the 195 carries Latavius Murray had last year should suffice, perhaps less if both Washington and Richard see an increase.”

Fantasy Goo: If Lynch is at full-strength he won’t need to be a bell-cow to out preform Murray’s performance from last year. Murray finished as the RB13 (std scoring) in 2016, despite being fairly inefficient behind a top-5 O-line. I expect Lynch will be there to take Murray’s vacated red-zone carries, but expect to see DeAndre Washington take a larger role in this backfield, especially when we get to the second half of the season, and your fantasy playoffs.

Paul Perkins

New York Giants

Perkins Not Ideal For 0-RB

Many fantasy analysts are valuing Perkins very high due to reports that he could be a 3 down back for the Giants.

Fantasy Goo: The Giants have produced only 11 rushing TDs over the past two years. They have failed to have a 1,000 yard rusher since 2012 nor have they produced a PPR RB over RB20 since 2011. Perkins who lost college rushes to a Linebacker has limited upside in the Giants offense.

Sammy Watkins

Buffalo Bills

Watkins All The Way Back?

"After the season finale in New York, he said he hoped to avoid surgery, but days later elected to have the procedure done. His rehab appears to be on schedule, as he was able to participate in a few team drills before the Bills wrapped up their spring practices. With six weeks between mandatory minicamp and start of training camp, Watkins should be close to 100 percent when camp starts Thursday."

Fantasy Goo: Watkins has WR1 upside when he is healthy and he is currently being drafted in the third round. Others that have gone through this procedure and have come back to full upside include; Julian Edelman, Dez Bryant, and Julio Jones.

Eddie Lacy

Seattle Seahawks

Lacy Loses Weight, Gains Primary Role

“Lacy is the favorite to start over Thomas Rawls, who will still have a role. At a minimum, C.J. Prosise will be the third-down back and a big factor in the passing game.”

Fantasy Goo: In the five games he started last year, Lacy averaged over five yards a carry, all of Rawls value stems from four random, good games he had against weak defenses in 2015. Lacy’s biggest competition is going to come from Prosise. Prosise is a converted from receiver in college and at 6’, 220lbs, has the size-speed combo to take over as the primary back.

Robert Kelley

Washington Redskins

Fat Rob Gets the Nod

Rob Kelley is slated to be the starting RB in Washington, however Perine will still have the opportunity to play a big role in the offense.

Fantasy Goo: Though Perine may be the higher scoring back in 2017, getting a couple early games from Kelley could be very valuable given his low draft cost.

Duke Johnson

Cleveland Browns

Duke Johnson In The Slot

As reported by Mary Cay Cabot, Duke Johnson is likely to take over slot WR work from Andrew Hawkins who is now a Patriot. This depends on Josh Gordon's status if he is granted reinstatement in September.

Fantasy Goo: Until we get news on Gordon, Duke Johnson should be in line to see about 50 additional targets in 3 WR sets. This number will likely be allocating among Johnson, Njoku and DeValve.

Carson Palmer

Arizona Cardinals

Last Hurrah for Palmer?

"Last year, he kind of came in September, had already worn his arm out by overthrowing all summer," Arians said. "We found a nice regimen, November and December he was playing as good as he’s ever played." After finding the right work-out regimen Palmer was the number 8 QB over the last eight weeks of the season. David Johnson said "his arm is definitely feeling good."

Fantasy Goo: Palmer could be the reason why late-round QB works this year, with an ADP around QB20 Carson has real bounce back potential and is practically free. The stat to watch to indicate 2017 success will be decreasing his league high 137 hits from 2016.

Zach Miller

Chicago Bears

Bears Overload at TE

Miller's contract has one year remaining with a base salary of $1.5 million and the issue the Bears have to tackle is if they can take a chance knowing Miller's durability issues. He has played in 25 games and missed 23 since joining the team in 2014. The only free agent that received more guaranteed money than quarterback Mike Glennon was Dion Sims, who signed an $18 million, three-year contract with $10 million guaranteed, ensuring he will be a big part of Dowell Loggains' offense.

Fantasy Goo: The Bears are five deep at TE right now after drafting Adam Shaheen, acquiring Daniel Brown from Baltimore, and signing UDFA Ben Braunecker. Miller seems like the odd man out here and that’s why he is no longer a late-round flyer in deep leagues. I’ve switched gears to Dion Sims simply because of his athleticism and the Bears investment in him as an every-down TE.

Anquan Boldin

Detroit Lions

Boldin Trying Buffalo

Boldin will be working out for the Bills on Monday (7/24) “Boldin, 36, led the Lions with 22 red zone targets last season. He had 67 catches and a career-high eight touchdowns, though he averaged a career-worst 8.7 yards per grab (584 yards in total).” The Bills are looking pretty shallow at WR at this point, they’ll probably be looking to have a few other guys in as well.

Fantasy Goo: This could cut into any upside we were hoping for from Zay Jones, although you could argue that they are much different types of receivers that just happen to both work out of the slot. Boldin will certainly vulture some TD’s from the wide receivers, but it absolutely crushes any chance of Charles Clay having any value and probably snakes away a little of Johnathan Williams receiving potential.

ALL PLAYERS LISTED ARE AVAILABLE IN 30% OR MORE OF CBS LEAGUES

CREAM OF THE CROP

TYLER LOCKETT – WR – SEAHAWKS – AVAILABLE IN 70% OF CBS LEAGUES

Lockett had a boom game this week, catching seven passes for 130 yards, highlighted by a 57-yard touchdown catch. He is available in leagues, and Patrick Peterson will likely cover Doug Baldwin, so Lockett could have another big game. Championship Game: vs. Ari

TY MONTGOMERY – RB/WR – PACKERS – AVAILABLE IN 31% OF CBS LEAGUES

Montgomery showed this week against the Bears that he is a running back, as he churned through their defense for 162 yards with two touchdowns on 16 carries. Next week it will be a little tougher against the Vikings, but Minnesota looked like that packed it in for the season at home versus the Colts. Championship Game: vs. Min

DION LEWIS – RB – PATRIOTS – AVAILABLE IN 33% OF CBS LEAGUES

Lewis actually led the Patriots in rushing attempts this week, carrying the ball 18 times for 95 yards, and catching two passes for nine yards. He should see more activity as a receiver next week as the Patriots host the Jets. Championship Game: vs. NYJ

DERRICK HENRY – RB – TITANS – AVAILABLE IN 38% OF CBS LEAGUES

Henry was the redzone wrecking ball this week. He carried the ball nine times for 58 yards with two touchdowns. The Titans are leaning on the running game, and Henry has become a big redzone threat. Championship Game: @Jac

DONTRELLE INMAN – WR – CHARGERS – AVAILABLE IN 48% OF CBS LEAGUES

Inman was the leading receiver for the Chargers this week, catching five balls for 68 yards. He has become a favorite target of Philip Rivers, and he has a nice matchup next week against the pitiful Browns. Championship Game: @Cle

PIERRE GARCON – WR – REDSKINS – AVAILABLE IN 50% OF CBS LEAGUES

Championship Game: @Chi

CAMERON MEREDITH – WR – BEARS – AVAILABLE IN 68% OF CBS LEAGUES

Meredith did not do well acting as the #1 while Alshon Jeffery was suspended, but he has been much better since his return. This week he caught nine passes for 104 yards in the freezing cold against the Packers. The Bears are throwing the ball a lot, and that means a lot of chances for Meredith. He should remain a strong candidate next week as Jeffery is likely to be shadowed by Josh Norman. Championship Game: vs. Was

CHARLES SIMS – RB – BUCCANEERS – AVAILABLE IN 62% OF CBS LEAGUES

Championship Game: @NO

CHARLES CLAY – TE – BILLS – AVAILABLE IN 82% OF CBS LEAGUES

Clay showed that last week was no fluke as he caught seven passes for 72 yards with another touchdown this week. He performs much better with Sammy Watkins in the lineup, and this week should have extra mustard on it, as he faces his former team, the Dolphins. Championship Game: vs. Mia

RYAN GRIFFIN – TE – TEXANS – AVAILABLE IN 95% OF CBS LEAGUES

If C.J. Fiedorowicz does not pass concussion protocols this week, you have to consider adding Griffin if you need a tight end. He caught eight passes for 85 yards, and if Tom Savage starts he will likely look his way a lot against the Bengals. Championship Game: vs. Cin

KENNETH FARROW – RB – CHARGERS – AVAILABLE IN 41% OF CBS LEAGUES

It was a rough week for Farrow, as he carried the ball 15 times for 39 yards, and caught two passes for 14 yards, but he also fumbled twice, losing one of them. It does get better next week against the Browns, so have a short memory here. Championship Game: @Cle

MATT BARKLEY – QB – BEARS – AVAILABLE IN 93% OF CBS LEAGUES

Barkley is quieting putting up nice numbers with the Bears, and this week threw for 362 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions in the freezing cold. He had two receivers go for more than 100 yards this week, and neither one was named Alshon Jeffery. He will be at home again next week, and the weather will be better, but you can bet he will attempt close to 40 passes again next week. Championship Game: vs. Was

QUINCY ENUNWA – WR – JETS – AVAILABLE IN 43% OF CBS LEAUGES

The Jets are a mess, but that means they are playing from behind in just about every game, and it will be no different next week against the Patriots. Enunwa caught five passes for 64 yards this week, and should be able to give you a similar floor next week in New England. Championship Game: @NE

ROBBY ANDERSON – WR – JETS – AVAILABLE IN 94% OF CBS LEAUGES

Robby Anderson has benefited from his familiarity with Bryce Petty, and this week he caught four passes for 80 yards with a 40-yard touchdown. He will see targets again next week, but he is more boom or bust against the Patriots. Championship Game: @NE

JARED COOK – TE – PACKERS – AVAILABLE IN 78% OF CBS LEAGUES

Cook stepped up for the Packers this week against the Bears, catching six passes for 85 yards in the frigid conditions. He will face a tougher defense next week with Minnesota coming to town, but the Colts abused them this week. Cook could be a sneaky play next week. Championship Game: vs. Min

BRANDON LAFELL – WR – BENGALS – AVAILABLE IN 62% OF CBS LEAGUES

LaFell came through this week with seven catches for 91 yards, but there is no consistency that you can count on. He and Tyler Boyd go back and forth and while LaFell has higher upside, it will be a tough play at Houston. Championship Game: @Hou

SMOKE AND MIRRORS – AVOID THESE GUYS ON THE WIRE

J.J. NELSON – WR – CARDINALS – AVAILABLE IN 60% OF CBS LEAGUES

Nelson came through with a touchdown this week, catching five passes for but for only 38 yards. He also had a big drop and what would have been a 56-yard touchdown catch. He is getting more looks, but he has a horrible matchup next week. Championship Game: @Sea

JOHN BROWN – WR – CARDINALS – AVAILBALE IN 64% OF CBS LEAGUES

Brown caught five passes for 81 yards with a touchdown and owners around fantasy said “where was that 15 weeks ago?” He is fools gold as the Cardinals face the Seahawks on the road next week. Championship Game: @Sea

KENNY STILLS – WR – DOLPHINS – AVAILABLE IN 75% OF CBS LEAGUES

Stills is the definition of boom or bust and he boomed this week catching a 52-yard touchdown pass, but that was his only catch on the day. Don’t count on him making an impact for you on the road Buffalo, where the conditions will not be optimal. Championship Game: @Buf

DEONTE THOMPSON – WR – BEARS – AVAILABLE IN 100% OF CBS LEAGUES

Thompson had his coming out party against the Packers this week, catching eight passes for 110 yards. Can you count on him to repeat that next week against the Redskins? NO. Championship Game: vs. Was

ROBERT TURBIN – RB – COLTS – AVAILABLE IN 98% OF CBS LEAGUES

Turbin was a touchdown vulture this week, carrying the ball seven times for 32 yards with two scores and adding 22 yards on two receptions. You can’t count on him scoring those touchdowns on a regular basis, as Gore is still the man in Indy. Gore goes back out to bay area next week, so Turbin should go back to being insignificant. Championship Game: @Oak

PAUL PERKINS – RB – GIANTS – AVAILABLE IN 61% OF CBS LEAGUES

Perkins has a ton of potential, but he has yet to overtake Rashad Jennings and that is bad news if you are looking for a spark. He did still get 11 carries for 56 yards this week, but he is by far the secondary option in the running game for the Giants and he does not score touchdowns. Championship Game: @Phi

MARQISE LEE – WR – JAGUARS – AVAILABLE IN 83% OF CBS LEAGUES

Lee did not make a catch this week, but he did return a kick 100-yards for score. You can’t trust any Jaguar in your championship game. Championship Game: vs. Ten

TYLER BOYD – WR – BENGALS – AVAILABLE IN 58% OF CBS LEAGUES

Boyd seems to have hit the rookie wall, and this week caught only two passes for 13 yards. You have to avoid him right now. Championship Game: @Hou

JACK DOYLE – TE – COLTS – AVAILABLE IN 72% OF CBS LEAGUES

Doyle can give you a floor each week, and he hit it this week with four catches for 32 yards, but was held out of the endzone. He is not going to give you an impact game next week. Championship Game: @Oak

MATT MOORE – QB – DOLPHINS – AVAILABLE IN 97% OF CBS LEAGUES

Moore showed his veteran skills last week throwing for 236 yards with four touchdowns against the hapless Jets defense. He will have a tougher matchup against the Bills on the road next week, and is not likely to repeat this performance for you next week. Championship Game: @Buf

ALDRICK ROBINSON – WR – FALCONS – AVAILABLE IN 100% OF CBS LEAGUES

With Julio Jones out again this week, Robinson stepped in and caught four passes for 111 yards. This was also against the 49ers in what was a blowout win. It could be another good matchup with the Panthers next week if Jones is out, but if he plays forget about Aldrick. Championship Game: @Car
