Diggs to Sit Giving an Opportunity for Some Young...Vikings

With Diggs now ruled out, the opportunity is there for others.

Fantasy Goo: While the receiver himself mentioned Wright by name, I could see Charles Johnson getting involved more. He has looked good as of late. Of course, the TE is a great play, although Houston is a tough matchup today, as they head north.

Charles Johnson

Minnesota Vikings

The wide receiver who popped

The wide receiver who popped out most during spring workouts was Charles Johnson, who got the bulk of the first-team reps at split end. In an 11-on-11 red-zone drill, Bridgewater lobbed a pretty pass to the back right corner of the end zone. Johnson made a leaping catch and tapped down two feet for the touchdown.

Fantasy Goo: Remain calm as there may be nothing to see here. 2015 was a disaster for fantasy owners who bought into his hype. Charles caught just 9 passes and had zero touchdowns in 2015. Teddy Bridgewater is not the type of quarterback that can satisfy all of the Vikings receiving targets. Stefon Diggs, Laquon Treadwell, Charles Johnson and tight end Kyle Rudolph comprise a group of mouths that all cannot be fed. Stefon Diggs should be the best bet of the bunch with Rudolph having a decent year for a tight end in 2016.

Charles Johnson

Minnesota Vikings

Charles Johnson says he was affected by his broken rib for nearly six weeks last season.

Vikings receiver Charles Johnson said on Thursday he broke a rib last September against San Diego, while trying to come back for a ball that San Diego's Steve Williams intercepted. Johnson said it took him until the Vikings' win over the Chicago Bears on Nov. 1 – during which the receiver made a critical 34-yard catch – to feel like he could play while managing the injury. "You can't sneeze, you can't move, laughing hurts," Johnson said. "But it's all good now." Johnson returned to Minnesota on Wednesday night after several days of workouts with Vikings receivers and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando. "It was good to just get out there and throw, learn some new things," Johnson said. "It was good to be back around the boys. It's been a while since we were all together. That's what's most important: making connections."

Minnesota Vikings

Charles Johnson (ribs) is practicing in full

Charles Johnson looks ready for week seven, but that just be the best it gets for him. Stefon Diggs is speculated to be the new starter for Minnesota pushing Johnson to the bench.

Johnson will most likely see playing time when the Vikings go three-wide, but that is very limited considering the Vikings are a running offense.

If Diggs gets the start you can officially drop Johnson in all leagues except for Dynasty formats.

This may be your last chance to act on Diggs as he is surely will be grabbed if he gets the starting nod.

Mike Zimmer said he has not decided if Stefon Diggs will remain a starter.

Chris Tomasson has reported via twitter that "Mike Zimmer said he has not decided if Stefon Diggs will remain a starter."

Diggs has only 40 fewer yards than Wallace despite being active for just 2-of-5 games. He makes an excellent waiver wire addition, especially in PPR and Dynasty leagues.

Charles Johnson and his ribs hopeful for week 4

According to Vikings beat reporter Matt Vensel "Mike Zimmer is hopeful that Charles Johnson, who hurt his ribs yesterday, will be fine by Sunday."

Charles Johnson has not been the PPR guy that many would hope he would be, but the season is still young, and his eight total targets over three games should improve.

Chris Tomasson has reported via twitter "Charles Johnson said was close Sunday (ribs) “I just wasn’t feeling the way I would be to be up to where I want to be so I decided not to go

It will be interesting to see the time split between Charles Johnson and Steffon Diggs. The rookie wide receiver has outplayed Johnson, but it may be too early to tell if he has outright stole the position.

Diggs could make a nice pickup if he has indeed made the jump to starter.
