Minnesota Vikings

McKinnon Goes West For Gold-Rush

49ers agreed to terms with RB Jerick McKinnon, formerly of the Vikings, on a four-year, $30 million contract.

McKinnon averaged a ho-hum 3.8 yards a carry for the Vikings and scored three rushing touchdowns. By contrast, San Francisco's former lead runner, Carlos Hyde, averaged 3.9 yards an attempt in 2017 and had eight rushing touchdowns.

It appears as though Shanahan is enamored with McKinnon's athletic metrics, but I'm not so sure he was "pounding the table" to get him. This move could push the Niner's to cut Joe Williams.

Minnesota Vikings

DFS RB to Target

At $4100 on Draft Kings, McKinnon is a hell of a player to target. You will easily be able to spend up at other positions. Even though Murray got the start last week, it was clearly McKinnon who shined as the Vikings are now in need of a new lead back to replace Cook, their injured rookie. Plus, McKinnon is the pass catcher and Draft Kings is a full PPR site. The Vikings are home to the Packers in Week #6. Green Bay has surrendered the 8th most rushing yards this season to opposing RBs.

Dalvin Cook

Minnesota Vikings

Damn Delvin, Say it Ain't So

Delvin Cook is reported to have a serious ACL tear. In fact, some reports say it is completely torn. While he and the team will certainly seek a second opinion, it looks bleak. It is too bad, he was fun to watch. The rookie was leading the NFC in rushing yards through the first 3 games. Looking to the next man up, at this point, McKinnon has 18 looks to Murray's 7. While both will certainly see an increase in workload, McKinnon is certainly your man in PPR.

Dalvin Cook

Minnesota Vikings

Pray for Dalvin!

Non-contact injuries are the worst kind, and that is exactly what happened to the Vikings rookie today. He lost 2 fumbles in the game, but the team is far more worried about losing their young stud for the season with a serious injury.

Fantasy Goo: Pray for Dalvin, watch the news to see what his status is, and start looking at Latavius Murray and Jerick McKinnon as potential waiver wire pickups if Cook is out for any period of time.

Fantasy Goo: I role with McKinnon today. The Lions have only given up 1 rushing TD so far to opposing RBs. Asiata makes his bones in the red zone, nut between the 20s, where McKinnon earns his bread, the Lions are vulnerable. They have allowed the 6th most rushing yards to the position. Finally, this game-script screams ground game for the Vikings as they are 6 point favorites

Asiata Set to Start in Week 3

Reports all week have been the split will break down in favor of McKinnon as he is reported to be getting 65% of work.

Fantasy Goo: Now with Asiata set to start, I am thinking it will be more 50-50. I love McKinnon, but the team also grabbed Hillman, who is inactive this week. Going forward, this is going to be a headache.

Adrian Peterson To Have Surgery To Repair Torn Meniscus Could be Out For Multiple Weeks

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has decided to undergo knee surgery for his torn meniscus and will reportedly miss multiple weeks.

Fantasy Goo: It is unclear how many weeks he will miss, but he is likely out until at least halfway through the regular season. In his absence, the team will turn to Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata to share the backfield. McKinnon offers the most upside in PPR leagues, but Asiata figures to see more goal line work and early downs, making this a true committee approach. Both are worth rostering in all leagues until there is some clarity on their roles.

Adrian Peterson

Arizona Cardinals

Not Today, All Day

Adrian Peterson suffered torn meniscus in his right knee versus the Green Bay Packers Sunday night. The diagnosis was confirmed by Coach Zimmer today, though his recovery timeline is undefined at this time.

Fantasy goo: Despite leading the league in rushing in 2015, Peterson had been absolutely terrible through the first two games of 2016, averaging only 1.6 yards/attempt. The Minnesota offensive line is creating almost no room to run, so the utility of Matt Asiata and/or Jerick McKinnon is questionable.

Adrian Peterson Nursing A Strained Hammy In Vikings Camp Could Lead To More Touches For Jerrick McKinnon

Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer told ESPN that RB Adrian Peterson (hamstring) "is fine" and will "be alright" following his minor hamstring strain sustained during training camp. Jerick McKinnon received "extra work" as a result of Peterson's absence.

Fantasy Goo: Adrian Peterson gave the Vikings a slight scare after tweaking his hamstring in training camp. As expected, he will be "fine" and return to football activities in the coming days. In the upcoming fantasy football campaign, Jerick McKinnon is an interesting name to target as he is projected as Peterson's primary handcuff. Peterson is aging and injuries could follow which translates to McKinnon seeing an increase in playing time in 2016.

McKinnon showing his potential

If you have listened to our podcast, then you know I am a big fan of Jerick's. He is currently battling Matt Asiata for the backup role to AP. If McKinnon continues to impress in practice, and can make some plays in the first preseason game, he will be well on his way to sealing up the position. He has an amazing skill set, and if he can prove to be effective in a pro-set, something he did not have to do in college, he will be utilized in the offense.

Non-contact injuries are the worst kind, and that is exactly what happened to the Vikings rookie today. He lost 2 fumbles in the game, but the team is far more worried about losing their young stud for the season with a serious injury.

Not Today, All Day

Adrian Peterson suffered torn meniscus in his right knee versus the Green Bay Packers Sunday night. The diagnosis was confirmed by Coach Zimmer today, though his recovery timeline is undefined at this time.

Fantasy goo: Despite leading the league in rushing in 2015, Peterson had been absolutely terrible through the first two games of 2016, averaging only 1.6 yards/attempt. The Minnesota offensive line is creating almost no room to run, so the utility of Matt Asiata and/or Jerick McKinnon is questionable.

McKinnon get the official start for the Vikings.
