After Starting Out Slow Rookie Rusher Joe Williams Finding A Groove In Camp

Williams is running harder and finishing plays better after a sluggish start to camp that earned him a lecture Monday from position coach Bobby Turner.

“By no means has he arrived after two good practices,” Shanahan said. “That’s why I try not to jump to too many conclusions after each practice, especially with the younger guys.
“They have to learn the speed, how to practice. A lot of these guys haven’t been hit like that in practice,” Shanahan added. “Joe got a couple good looks sometimes that’s what they need to spring confidence.”

Fantasy Goo: Williams is the direct handcuff to 49ers feature back Carlos Hyde who's track record shows he's often injured so the rookie could be in line for some work and is at the least worth a stash for anyone drafting Hyde this season.
