Thomas Determined To Not Have a Sophomore Slump

Typically the curl route is one where the QB needs multiple seasons to develop a trust with a WR, but Thomas led the NFL in catches and yards on curl routes with 27 and 257 respectively.

Fantasy Goo: Michael Thomas had the best rookie WR season since Randy Moss. Thomas finished with the 9th most receiving yards in 2016 and he did so despite the fact that he saw only the 22nd most targets on the year. Thomas should be in line for an increase in targets as the Saints traded away Brandin Cooks and his 117 targets.

Drew Brees

New Orleans Saints

Brees Looks for Revenge Back Home in the Dome

Brees was without Michael Thomas the last time he faced the Bucs. This time should be different. This is one of three games to target that has an expected over/under above 50.

Fantasy Goo: We know Brees has amazing home/road splits, but Thomas like the dome as well. At home, Thomas catches 84% of the passes thrown his way compared to just 70% on the road. Thomas will also See Vernon Hargreaves III, whom is one of the worst corners around. Look for Brees to take advantage of that matchup. Tampa can definitely be taken advantage of deep. Derek Carr hung 500 on them earlier this year.

Will Lutz

Philadelphia Eagles

Saints Love Playing in the Big Easy

We know the Saints have a huge home advantage.

Fantasy Goo: Brees averages 366 yards and 3 TDs per game at home. Michael Thomas improves his catch rate by 12 percentage points; at home MT averages an 82% catch rate. Even will Lutz enjoys an advantage. Using NFL Fantasy scoring, he averages double-digit fantasy points when at home. Today in fact, Lutz is at home and the team has an implied team total of 26 points at opening. When selecting a kicker, I want home3 field advantage, I want them indoors, and with a high expected team total... Lutz checks all those boxes in Week 12.

Willie Snead

New Orleans Saints

Snead in Serious Question for Monday Week 3

Although it was reported he got in a practice on Friday, that was incorrect. Snead, although present, did not participate in practice Friday.

Fantasy Goo: Facing the Falcons, this is a great opportunity for Atlanta WRs. IF indeed Snead cannot go, check your waivers now as this is a Monday night game. See if Thomas or Brandon Coleman is available. If not, look on the other side of the ball, just know all three of the Falcons WRs are currently listed as Questionable. This game has the highest over/under of the week!

The Saints Rookie Limited in Practice this Week

Michael Thomas was limited in practice Thursday and Friday. The injury looks to be minor but if he does go, he could be on a bit of a snap count. This is one of the 3 games that Vegas has pegged to score over 50 points. If indeed Thomas does not go, or is limited, expect Snead and Fleener to get a larger slice of the pie.

Fantasy Goo: Thomas flashed in preseason but let’s not forget he is indeed a rookie. I would hold off on starting him in Week #1 if at all possible as there is enough concern to limit him in practice. I think Snead is a great play. He is likely to have a superior matchup against CB D.J. Hayden. snead should own this guy on routes. Finally, although there has been talk about Fleener’s struggles with the playbook, all it takes is a TD, and when they get in close, he should be a great target for Mr. Brees. after all, Watson has left town along with his 110 targets.

Colston Vaccum

Thomas is 6'3" tall and a vertical threat. However, the Saints intend to use him as they used Colston in years prior. Brees sat down with Thomas at the beginning of OTAs and discussed how Thomas should deviate from routes in specific coverage schemes. Without hesitation in practice, Thomas recollected the previous conversation and took Brees cue prior to the play, burning the coverage for a deep completion.

Thomas was a burner at Ohio State. The Saints intend to use him as a slot wide-out. It is also noteworthy that Thomas is a nephew to Keyshawn Johnson. Expect regression from Snead if Thomas shows flashes in the preseason.

Michael Thomas

New Orleans Saints

Michael Thomas

New Orleans Saints

Michael Thomas

New Orleans Saints
