Orleans Darkwa

New York Giants

Waiver Wire Target

Darkwa is the Giant running back that has emerged as the lead back for the team. He torched the Broncos defense for 117 yards on 21 carries and caught one pass for 13 yards. He showed some nice burst and that will likely get him another big workload in their next game.

Orleans Darkwa

New York Giants

A real shitty committee

Perkins is the lead dog in the 3-head committee was held to just 16 yards rushing in week 1. So he may be sort of like a Chihuahua at this point. Shane Vereen and Orleans Darkwa did not fare much better as the Giants managed just 35 yards rushing and proved that the O-line issues that limited their ground game last season is still in place for them to suck balls again this year on the ground.

Paul Perkins

New York Giants

Let’s get it percolating

McAdoo said, “Perkins is ready to step up.’’ Asked how he will replace Vereen, McAdoo said “by committee.’’

Fantasy Goo: Paul Perkins is one of many rookie running backs that are starting to get their number called as injuries have hit the RB position early in 2016. The only running back I like on the G-Men is Paul Perkins. The often injured Jennings will surely go down again this year. Perkins needs to grab the opportunity and never look back. The RBBC label will last unless Perkins plays lights-out. Darkwa should not scare you. If you have a need for a RB this week you can probably get him fairly easily off of your waiver wire. Your last roster spot could be a “what If” spot. Take risks with your last roster spot as it can pay off. Many fantasy owners surely will be taking quite a few 2016 rookies this week.

Shane Vereen

New York Giants

Giants Backfield: Giants Mess

Shane Vereen suffered a possibly season-ending triceps injury. The New York Giants haven't explicitly stated that the injury is season-ending despite initial reports that it would be. As it stands Rashad Jennings is in line to carry the load as the primary back for the Giants if he's healthy. Jennings has been battling a hand injury which caused him to miss the week 3 contest versus the Redskins.

Fantasy goo: It's tough to really pin down this New York Giant rushing attack. Jennings was moderately effective last season towards the end of the year when finally given ample opportunity, but has been underwhelming this year so far. If Jennings can't go the primary ballcarrier duties should fall to Orleans Darkwa. Darkwa, who has averaged 4.1 yards per carry this season, received 10 carries in week 3 with Jennings on the sideline.

Orleans Darkwa to be "given an opportunity for a consistent role."

Snippets from the article by Howie Kussoy

Orleans Darkwa is likely to be given another opportunity to carve out a consistent role after rushing for 48 yards and a touchdown in last weekend’s win over the Cowboys.

“He did a nice job during preseason, that’s where that all started,” Coughlin said. “He’s powerful, he makes good cuts, he seems to have the proper gait going through the line of scrimmage as his own runner, and so the opportunity that he received last weekend, he did well with it.”

Offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo believes Darkwa’s inherent gifts are perfectly suited for the new role.

“I think he has a good feel,” McAdoo said Thursday. “He has the vision, he has the instincts where he can find the crevice. They’re tough to find, he can get those tough yards and make them look easy at times.”

Waiver Wire Target

Darkwa is the Giant running back that has emerged as the lead back for the team. He torched the Broncos defense for 117 yards on 21 carries and caught one pass for 13 yards. He showed some nice burst and that will likely get him another big workload in their next game.
