Paxton Lynch

Denver Broncos

Lynch Off IR, Starting Sunday

Paxton Lynch will be Broncos starting QB vs. Oakland. No. 2 QB is Trevor Siemian.

Well, better late than never. I was high on Lynch during drafts this year as my third QB in deep roster leagues. I’m not even thinking about starting him on purpose though. He’s not worth rostering in most leagues, but this could be worth keeping an eye on, especially as it pertains to the WR’s. Simeon was good for Sanders; Osweiler was good for Thomas, who knows what Lynch will be good for. Possibly the Oakland defense this week, it takes some testicular fortitude to stream Oakland’s DST though.

Trevor Siemian

Denver Broncos

Siemian Holding Off Lynch

“It’s unsettled. Things aren’t going according to plan with Paxton Lynch. As much as general manager John Elway might say publicly that things are working themselves out and Paxton is a better pro and Trevor Siemian is competing, this all feels very familiar and very undone.” This is similar to what we saw last year out of these QB’s, when Lynch did get his chance he was running scared behind an awful O-line.

Fantasy Goo: The O-line is improved and Lynch worked on his footwork and throwing motion in the off-season, but Siemian is still holding him at bay. This only really matters to us because their week 14-16 line-up is Indy, NYJ, and Washington which could really make a Denver QB worth streaming late or owning in deep best-ball leagues.

Denver Broncos

Siemian To Open Camp As Starter

Trevor Siemian will start training camp with first team. He and Paxton Lynch will rotate daily.

Fantasy Goo: While both have similar season total values, Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders both clearly benefit from opposite receivers. Lynch adds value to Sanders gets a boost due to the deep ball and Siemian boosts Demaryius due to short ball accuracy.

Trevor Siemian To Resume Starting Duties On Thursday Night

Denver Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian will start Thursday night's game against the San Diego Chargers after missing last week with a left (non-throwing) shoulder injury, a team official told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Siemian had been expected to start this week after he was held out of Sunday's loss to the Atlanta Falcons. "I think I'm expecting to play," he said Tuesday. Siemian suffered a bruised AC joint in his non-throwing shoulder just before halftime of the Broncos' Week 4 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was held out of practice one day last week and then threw on a limited basis Thursday, Friday and Saturday before the Broncos made the decision to rule him out and start rookie QB Paxton Lynch.
In his last full game, Siemian threw for 312 yards and four touchdowns in the Broncos' Week 3 win at Cincinnati.

Lynch to Start Week 5, Siemian Expected to Week 6

Siemian has been told he will hold onto the job long-term, but his no=throwing shoulder is just not ready for Week 5. Rookie Lynch will play with a slightly adjusted playbook.

Fantasy Goo: Look for this to be more of a game management situation. I think they will rely heavily on Anderson. He is a great cash DFS play. Siemian is a great grab now as 4 of his next 5 games face cake defenses.

Paxton Lynch Has Opportunity To Be Opening Day Starting Broncos Quarterback

Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak told reporters that rookie QB Paxton Lynch still has an opportunity to win the starting QB spot during the preseason. Kubiak stated that Lynch “has always been in the mix” and that he would “play the guy that I think is best for our team”. Lynch is currently behind both Mark Sanchez and Trevor Siemian on the depth chart, but has arguably outplayed both during the preseason.

Fantasy Goo: At this point, I think that it is very likely that Paxton Lynch ends up being the starting QB for the Broncos at some point this year. In fact, I wouldn’t be shocked if he won the job in the next two weeks and started week 1. From a fantasy standpoint, I think Lynch has the most potential to be fantasy relevant of any of the Broncos QBs because of his duel-threat ability. However, at this point, I wouldn’t draft any of these QBs even in deep leagues.

Mark Sanchez

Denver Broncos

Slight edge to Sanchez

I'd give slight edge to Sanchez. Before though I thought he had to lose the job. Now he has to win it in camp. @TroyRenck NFL/Broncos beat writer for The Denver Post.

Fantasy Goo: Mark Sanchez should end up starting the season due to the fact that the Denver Broncos already have an obviously competitive team due to last year’s Super Bowl victory. It is hard to see Trevor Siemian a 2015 7th rounder leading the team out of the gate. Paxton Lynch the 26th overall pick in 2016 will be a work in progress player as well. Mark Sanchez the 5th overall pick in 2009 had his best season during 2011 when he had 26 passing and 6 rushing TDs along with 24 turnovers. The death-rattle being Mark’s 105 career turnovers! As disgusting as it is to imagine him playing well, Mark has Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders to throw to and a Denver defense that will help the team get the ball back after Mark’s turnovers.

Denver Broncos Quarterback competition heating up in OTA's As Dark Horse Candidate Showing Up For The Challenge

The Denver Broncos have a hole at the starting quarterback position heading into the 2016 season. Mark Sanchez, Trevor Siemian, and Paxton Lynch all received reps with the first team during organized team activities which suggest that the job is wide open. "I wouldn't sleep on Trevor to win the job, either," Kubiak said of Siemian, who is the dark horse in Denver's quarterback race.

Trevor Siemian is an unknown commodity outside of Denver as he has primarily only seen preseason work in the NFL. Despite being unproven, he is reportedly highly-touted by the team's coaching staff. And the team seems to have confidence in him going back to last season when Manning went down with injury and Osweiler started, they never looked to add another quarterback to the roster trusting Siemian with the backup role.
Although all three of Denver's quarterbacks are receiving first-team reps, Mark Sanchez will likely emerge as Denver's starter in Wek 1 due to his experience in the league, but if was to struggle, look for Siemian or Paxton Lynch to be thrust into the position by mid-season.
