Does he Fish? Who is he?

Let's see... Shaun Hill enjoys fishing.  He started his beloved hobby back in high school in his home state of Kansas, throwing the reel out into random farm ponds in the area.  He brought this childhood love with him up to Minnesota while he was a member of the Vikings, and wouldn't you know it, the first time he went out with the guys, he landed a 30-inch, nine-pound walleye on his first cast using leech for bait.  What a world, what a guy, what a snooze.

Shaun Hill

Minnesota Vikings

Hut Hut Hike… Hand-Off

‏@Andrew_Krammer Shaun Hill leading QB drills today with Sam Bradford in tow. #Vikings

Fantasy Goo: Shaun Hill will be very busy week one. If you call handing the ball to AP, All Day then Shaun Hill will be sweating profusely. Peterson does not play in preseason games anymore and will be fresh for week 1. The Vikings passing attack should be limited until Sam Bradford takes over and becomes comfortable. Peterson should be in for high volume this week. Adrian should be a dump off target for Hill giving PPR appeal to Peterson as well.

Shaun Hill Next Man Up In Minnesota For Now

Shaun Hill will likely assume starting QB duties for the Vikings after Teddy Bridgewater's devastating knee injury. The Vikings are looking for other QBs, but Hill is the most logical choice for the time being.

Fantasy Goo: Hill is a 36-year-old veteran who should be able to do what the Vikings need him to do; manage games and not turn the ball over. But management is not good for fantasy purposes and will hurt all Vikings with the exception of maybe Adrian Peterson. That being said, defenses will likely load the box and force Hill to throw.

Shaun Hill

Minnesota Vikings

Starting

Davis predictably melted down once defenses figured him out. He's a weak-armed turnover machine with four pick-sixes and two fumble-sixes across eight starts. The final nail in his coffin was a fourth-quarter collapse against Arizona last week, when Davis threw an interception, pick-six, and lost a fumble-six on three straight possessions.

If you own him it is safe to drop him, as he is best served as an emergency quarterback than anything near starting material

Not that you were going to start him anyway...or that anyone actually has him on their team...but if you do, sit him this week...and then go slap yourself silly for thinking it was a good idea to put up money to play fantasy football.

Quad injury to Shaun Hill spells trouble for Rams

Austin Davis is now the Rams QB until we know the extent of Shaun Hills leg injury. This is really bad for fantasy owners that took any players on St. Louis this year. Yikes, not much confidence there.

All I can say of Rams offensive specialty players in regards to fantasy football points is sell, sell, sell! If you have to keep any guys from the team for whatever reason, my advice is sit, sit, sit!

Minnesota Vikings

Hill's time is now

All Zac Stacy owners rejoice, and make sure you have his hand-cuff, because dont be surprised, if this team is going to lead the league in rushing. Shaun Hill can be a one-year starter, and not destroy the team in the process, but he will redefine the quarterback "game manger" role.

Shaun Hill demoted to second string

Good call Samurai. Hill wasn't getting the job done, and with Smith almost single-handedly bringing the team back from a 21-0 deficit, he deserves this shot. With those receivers, Smith will be a decent backup fantasy football QB going forward.

Niners to run the ball a ton this year

While this might be great news for RB Frank Gore, it's not the biggest vote of confidence for QB Shaun Hill. OC Raye may be getting a little ahead of himself here as it's nearly impossible to run the ball that much each and every game. Hey Jimmy, do you plan on sticking to that game-plan when your team is down 21 points in the second half?

Shaun Hill

Minnesota Vikings

Shaun Hill tweaks his back in practice Tuesday

This news won't affect coach Mike Singletary's decision in making Hill his starting QB, but it doesn't bode well for the cohesiveness of the team heading into the regular season. If Hill can return to action quickly, the offense shouldn't be affected in any way, but if he is out for a significant amount of time, expect the Niners to look rusty come Week 1 with whichever QB they throw out there. For now, keep Hill as a low-end backup fantasy QB on your cheat sheet and we'll update you with his progress as it comes through.

Shaun Hill

Minnesota Vikings

Update: Singletary chooses Hill to be his starting QB

This call is not at all a surprise, as Hill has not only outperformed Alex Smith throughout the preseason, but also went 5-3 as the starter for the 49ers at the end of last season. Hill is by no means a starting fantasy QB in 2009, but you could do worse in selecting a backup QB and may find yourself getting decent ROI on Hill later in the year, especially if Michael Crabtree ever signs.

Shaun Hill

Minnesota Vikings

Singletary not ready to pick a starting QB yet

The 49ers could end up having a relatively high-powered offense this season, especially if Michael Crabtree ever signs, so choosing the right QB to head the helm is an important decision. We're still behind the thought that Shaun Hill will be the man in Week 1, and if that turns out to be the case, Hill could emerge as a decent backup fantasy QB in 2009.

Shaun Hill

Minnesota Vikings

Alex Smith to get the start on Saturday

This will probably be Smith's last chance to impress the coaches enough to make him the starter for the 49ers in Week 1. At this point, Shaun Hill is still the best bet to be the man running the offense to begin the season, but if Smith can put together a Joe Montana-like game on Saturday, Singletary might have a tougher decision to make than he originally thought.

Shaun Hill

Minnesota Vikings

Shaun Hill clearly ahead in 49ers QB race

Even if Shaun Hill comes away with the job, which he should, he'll likely be on a short leash over the first few games. The coaching staff likes what they've seen concerning the progress of Alex Smith and would feel comfortable with him taking over the job should Hill falter in any way. We'll keep you posted as the situation unfolds.

Shaun Hill

Minnesota Vikings

Neither Niner QB appears to have a firm grip on the starting gig

We like Hill, but we were once more enamored with him when we thought Michael Crabtree was going to split out wide. Their once deep WR corps is looking pretty slim these days. He's a backup at this point and just cracks our top 20 QBs.

Shaun Hill

Minnesota Vikings

Starting job Hill's to lose

This really shouldn't come as much of a surprise to anyone as Hill played well enough last year to deserve this type of shot. Alex Smith may be loaded with talent, but hasn't been able to put it all together yet in his short career. We'll see if Smith can do something about changing Singletary's mind in the next game, but it better be spectacular, cuz Samurai Mike is a tough guy to please.

Shaun Hill gets starting nod

Singletary also said not to read into anything because of the decision, and that there is still an open competition for the regular season starting gig. We're not buying it... Hill finished last season as the starter, opened training camp taking the first-team reps, and now is named the starter for the first preseason game? Seems to us that Samurai Mike just isn't very good at bullshitting the media yet...

All Zac Stacy owners rejoice, and make sure you have his hand-cuff, because dont be surprised, if this team is going to lead the league in rushing. Shaun Hill can be a one-year starter, and not destroy the team in the process, but he will redefine the quarterback "game manger" role.

Shaun Hill tweaks his back in practice Tuesday

This news won't affect coach Mike Singletary's decision in making Hill his starting QB, but it doesn't bode well for the cohesiveness of the team heading into the regular season. If Hill can return to action quickly, the offense shouldn't be affected in any way, but if he is out for a significant amount of time, expect the Niners to look rusty come Week 1 with whichever QB they throw out there. For now, keep Hill as a low-end backup fantasy QB on your cheat sheet and we'll update you with his progress as it comes through.

Even if Shaun Hill comes away with the job, which he should, he'll likely be on a short leash over the first few games. We'll keep you posted as the situation unfolds.

All Zac Stacy owners rejoice, and make sure you have his hand-cuff, because dont be surprised, if this team is going to lead the league in rushing. Shaun Hill can be a one-year starter, and not destroy the team in the process, but he will redefine the quarterback "game manger" role.

Shaun Hill tweaks his back in practice Tuesday

This news won't affect coach Mike Singletary's decision in making Hill his starting QB, but it doesn't bode well for the cohesiveness of the team heading into the regular season. If Hill can return to action quickly, the offense shouldn't be affected in any way, but if he is out for a significant amount of time, expect the Niners to look rusty come Week 1 with whichever QB they throw out there. For now, keep Hill as a low-end backup fantasy QB on your cheat sheet and we'll update you with his progress as it comes through.

Hill finished last season as the starter, opened training camp taking the first-team reps, and now is named the starter for the first preseason game? Seems to us that Samurai Mike just isn't very good at bullshitting the media yet...

We like Hill, but we were once more enamored with him when we thought Michael Crabtree was going to split out wide. Their once deep WR corps is looking pretty slim these days. He's a backup at this point and just cracks our top 20 QBs.

Hill finished last season as the starter, opened training camp taking the first-team reps, and now is named the starter for the first preseason game? Seems to us that Samurai Mike just isn't very good at bullshitting the media yet...

Shaun Hill tweaks his back in practice Tuesday

This news won't affect coach Mike Singletary's decision in making Hill his starting QB, but it doesn't bode well for the cohesiveness of the team heading into the regular season. If Hill can return to action quickly, the offense shouldn't be affected in any way, but if he is out for a significant amount of time, expect the Niners to look rusty come Week 1 with whichever QB they throw out there. For now, keep Hill as a low-end backup fantasy QB on your cheat sheet and we'll update you with his progress as it comes through.

Shaun Hill listed as Questionable, will be game-time decision
