Tavon Austin Improves Catching By Installing New Hands

Tavon Austin, who coach McVay intends on turning from a slot receiver to a down field burner in the DeSean Jackson phylum had to undergo a wrist procedure that will hold him out through OTA's. That is very valuable time lost as they try to convert his play style.

Fantasy Goo: Tavon will be good to go for the season barring any setbacks, but he will lose out on valuable off-season reps. Expect the missing reps to show a clear rapport between Goff and Robert Woods, whereas Austin will be playing catch up. Woods becomes the WR to own in LA (Rams).

Austin Out vs Pats

Tavon will be taking this game off with a chest.

Fantasy Goo: If this means anything, Kenny Britt and Lance Kendricks take a small jump and NO ONE should play Goff. Pats DST become a better DFS option.

Kamar Aiken

Baltimore Ravens

WR DFS Plays for Week 6

Both guys are severely under prices, including the rock-bottom, minimum $3000 for Aiken.

Fantasy Goo: Aiken will get a larger role without Steve Smith in the line-up. Austin is also so low priced and has 54 looks so far. Opportunity is what you want and he is getting it in spades through the air and on the ground.

Kenny Britt to sit?

@Rich_Hammond Rams’ injury report: Britt, thigh, DNP

Fantasy Goo: Kenny Britt is on the injury report but has time to heal up before kick-off. He has been a bright spot for the L.A. Rams this year. With garbage for quarterbacks, Britt has been producing fairly well. He has not celebrated in the end-zone but has about around a 70 yards per game average. You would have to be desperate to use him unless you are in a very large league. Tavon Austin got a fat paycheck this year but, you cannot have wheels to a car when there is no car to begin with. Other than Gurley you should not have any Rams on your roster.

Tavon Austin To Get More Opportunities This Season

Speaking earlier this month at spring practices, Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said that the offensive has been "re-designed" to get wide receiver Tavon Austin more touches. (Los Angeles Daily News)

Fantasy Goo: After the team picked up Austin's fifth-year option, it was clear that they saw him as the team's top option in the passing game this season. He had a total of 104 receptions and carries last season as a gadget player, so it is fair to say he could see the number rise to 125+. While not your typical WR1, Austin should get enough volume to become a value in fantasy drafts.

Rams Coach Jeff Fisher Has High Hopes For Tavon Austin In 2016

Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher suggested to the team's official website that the Rams already have the wide receiver needed on their roster to compliment Jared Goff and Todd Gurley. Fisher thinks that Austin could "double in catches over what he had last year" in 2016, which bodes well for the offense as a whole. (Around the NFL)

Tavon Austin was the eighth overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft by the Rams, but he never lived up o his top 10 places of selection. Austin struggled in one of the league's most stalled pass offenses since entering the NFL. He had his best year as a pro last season, where he caught 52-of-87 targets for 473 yards and five touchdowns. The versatile Austin is also a threat in the running game. He ran for 434 yards on 52 attempts and added another four trips across the goal line on the ground in 2015 which tremendously adds to his fantasy value. Despite all of the hype that surrounds the Rams in 2016, Austin should be considered as a receiver with tons of upside. Buyer beware, Austin's production will likely be dictated by the performances of Gurley and Goff.

Choice Matchup for Tavon in Week 11

Tavon Ausitn is still availalbe in over 54% of ESPN leagues. This week, he faces Baltimore. No other team in the NFL allows more yards to opposing WR2s than the Ravens, nearly 73 yards per game. Not only that, Austin is receiving nearly 33% of his teams target share hen they are in the redzone.

Tavon Austin (questionable, hamstring) is expected to play

Austin has a favorable Week 7 match up, and should be considered a flex option or Wr-3 as the Rams face the Cleveland Browns.

Tavon Austin

Los Angeles Rams

Joining the back-field crew

The Rams are not giving up on this plan. Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer stated: “This week, there’ll be more of the same,” Schottenheimer said. “We’ll keep giving him touches, getting him the ball. The more spots we can put him, the better off we’ll be.”

If Austin can get some space he is off, and nobody will catch him, but can the Rams create for him the space needed. They saw it all unfold last week when Cordarrelle Patterson was all over the field, and that's what they want for Austin.

As of now keep him on the bench, and see if the Rams can finally give him the clearance space he will need.

Los Angeles Rams

Austin's Role to Expand

Being a big-play guy is not an issue for Tavon Austin. In his rookie year last season, he had a big showcase game against the Colts, where he had 3 receptions for 138 yards and two touchdowns, and had a punt return go the distance in that game as well. Overall, he struggled, he finished the season with just 40 receptions on 69 targets for 418 yards and four touchdowns. His lack of production could come from the fact that he was learning the offense, but if Brian Schottenheimer feels that he can expand Tavon's role, and move him around, it seems that the offense is under Austin's control.

Tavon Austin

Los Angeles Rams

Austin struggling so far

I warned owners about going after Austin this season back in August. Austin was, and still is the most dynamic player drafted this season, but it just does not happen for slot receivers in their first season.

It especially does not happen for these slot receivers when they are the best receiver on their team. Slot receivers need to have weapons on the outside to keep the defense honest, and to keep themselves in one-on-one coverage.

The Rams are struggling to find their identity and so is Austin. If you are in a keeper league Austin still has a lot of value, but it is going to be a struggle for him the rest of his rookie campaign.

Los Angeles Rams

Austin to line up all over the field, as expected

Austin may end up with WR3 fantasy numbers this year, but by no means is it guaranteed. Rookie WRs tend to have a tough time adjusting to the speed of the NFL, especially slot receivers like Austin. He certainly has upside with his extreme dynamic abilities, but the Rams also have one of the toughest schedules against the pass this season, as well as one of the youngest teams in the league, so a bit of caution would be advised here.
Draft him for his upside, but don't bank on him as a fantasy starter all season.

Los Angeles Rams

Choice Matchup for Tavon in Week 11

Tavon Ausitn is still availalbe in over 54% of ESPN leagues. This week, he faces Baltimore. No other team in the NFL allows more yards to opposing WR2s than the Ravens, nearly 73 yards per game. Not only that, Austin is receiving nearly 33% of his teams target share hen they are in the redzone.

Both guys are severely under prices, including the rock-bottom, minimum $3000 for Aiken.
